I love the piano, but I\'ve never really had a chance to play as a pianist in a band. I currently play bass in a band, but I want to go back to my roots (we have a keyboardist). My tastes range from classic rock to classical, jam bands to jazz bands, reggae to rumba. Yay alliteration. It\'s always been a dream of mine to be in/start a busking band. I imagine that it\'s fun, flexible and rewarding. I am currently hunkering down amid the \"Snowpacolypse 2: The Snowgasm\" and I\'ve come up with a plan for starting and operating this mythical, magical band: 1. I need two people: a drummer and a singer. Song writing ability a plus for either. Drummer: please travel light...we\'re buskers! No more than 3-5 pieces. Be able to both chop wood and get more creative. Singer: Good (on key!) voice valued over stage presence, but have some of both. Also, it\'d be nice if you had your own mic, but not required. 2. I wouldn\'t mind: people who play uncommon instruments, play common instruments an uncommon way, or a bassist. 3. I\'m not really looking for, but feel free to send me an email: guitarists, pianists, Ginger Baker 4. When you send me an email, send me a song to learn (chords and lyrics), and a few dates for us to meet. A recording of yourself is optional since I do not have one of my own. I\'ll send you a song for you to learn, and a mutually convenient date. Since I\'m low on funds, our first practice will be in one of our humble abodes (I live in Adam\'s Morgan.) Hopefully our first practice will result in 2 songs for our repertoire and plans to meet again. If not, oh well. I prefer weekly rehearsals, and am available to audition and/or rehearse at any time. I am never late. I have experience singing Classic Rock, Classic Top 40, electric and acoustic, Southern Rock (owwwwwww!!!!), Blues, Variety, Motown, and miscellaneous stuff. I have sung semi-classical pieces for weddings and religious events. I have training as an opera singer and I can sing opera, but I prefer other genres. I use my operatic training in that I can support from the diaphragm, and I can sing rock and roll all night. I have no knowledge of jazz or country standards, although I can sing country and jazz. The only thing I cannot do is lift and haul equipment. I hire my own roadies, so my bandmates do not have to take up my slack. Some of my favorite people are my roadies.
