Standing at the start and thinking about 100 miles can create a mental load that makes the physical one even tougher. So instead, think about riding 25 miles four times. You know what it takes to do 25 and that isn\'t scary. Your confidence will be much higher. Then on the ride, stop at each quarter-distance goal (perhaps there will be aid stations) to walk a bit, stretch and fill your bottles and pockets.
